Dr Kany Kabeya | President

Dr Kany Kabeya obtained his BSc in Civil Engineering in 1987 at University of Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo) and completed an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering two years later at the same institution. While working for CSIR Miningtek in South Africa as a research engineer, he obtained his Doctorate in Geotechnical / Rock Engineering in 2002. Dr Kabeya is a registered professional engineer with ECSA and a member of the International Society of Rock Mechanics (ISRM) via SANIRE (South African National Institute of Rock Engineering). He is also a member of SAICE and ISSMGE (the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering) and currently serving as Secretary of the technical committee TC 107 on Laterites and Lateritic soils.  He is the external examiner and lecturer of Reinforced Concrete Design RCD401C at UNISA, Department of Civil and Chemical Engineering – Florida Campus. Dr Kabeya is the founder and managing director of JMK Sanctuary (Pty) Ltd, which is a consulting engineering firm that specialises in geotechnical and structural engineering, as well as waste residue deposits management since 2002.
